Navigli walking tour

The tour normally starts at 5PM on Thursdays, Fridays, Saturdays and Sundays, and lasts about an hour and a half. You'll start in Piazza Sant'Eustorgio, in front of the early Christian basilica. You'll then proceed to the Darsena, the ancient, inner harbour built in the Spanish era, and a hub of regional trade until well into the 1970s.

You'll learn about the history of the 12th century canal, and how Leonardo da Vinci later modernised the canal with a series of locks. Crossing the Ponte del Trionfo (Bridge of Triumph) you'll walk along the Naviglio Pavese with its picturesque alleyways to reach the Naviglio Grande, Milan's main canal. You'll then continue on to the historic Vicolo dei Lavanda.

After the tour has ended, you can continue to explore the area, famed for its nightlife, on your own, maybe enjoying an aperitivo at one of the bars lining the banks of the canal, or taking a meal at a traditional Milanese trattoria. (Please note - aperitivi and meals are not included in the ticket price.)

The ticket includes the expert English speaking guide, and the entrance fee for the Church of Sant'Eustorgio.
