A three and a half hour guided tour of Florence city which also includes a viewing of Michelangelo's David. The tour begins with some panoramic views across the city before discovering the cathedral area on foot after visiting Michelangelo's statue of David, skipping any queues on the day. This is followed by a light lunch in a central Florence restaurant.
The tour begins with a drive up the delightful Etruscan hilltop town of Fiesole, then on via the romantic Viale dei Colli to Piazzale Michelangelo, a strategic viewpoint that offers open views across the splendid skyline of Florence to the hills beyond. Then it's a drive back down the hill and into the historic city centre to the Accademia, where you'll bypass the queues and head straight in to view Michelangelo's famous David, as well as some other works by the great artist.
Next comes a walking tour of the area around the cathedral (Duomo). This takes in the Church of San Lorenzo, the Baptistery with the famous Porta del Paradiso, the cathedral with the magnificent Cupola (dome) by Brunelleschi, and Giotto's bell tower (campanile).
The tour heads off at 8.30 in the morning (meeting point at 8.15) and finishes at around 12.00 NOON, after which an assistant will then accompany you to a traditional local restaurant where you'll enjoy a typical Tuscan light lunch and accompanying drinks.
Tours are available in English, Italian, French, German and Spanish and occasionally are conducted in two languages. Tickets are fully inclusive and are all 'skip the line' tickets.
For groups of more than eight people it is obligatory to use the 'Whisper' audio system. Your guide will be talking into a small microphone and you'll each be listening on special earpieces. This is included in the price.
