‘Valadier, Splendore nella Roma del Settecento’
Translating to ‘Luigi Valadier, Splendour in 18th Century Rome’, this exhibition focuses on the work of an artist credited as being a key figure in the renewal, both artistically and architecturally, of the Villa Borghese.
Valadier was a master goldsmith, trusted by popes and royalty, and was certainly a key player in setting the styles and tastes of Rome in the second half of the Eighteenth Century. His developments in technique and process allowed him to create large bronze pieces, both sculpture and furnishings in Baroque and Neoclassical styles.
The exhibition, entrance to which is included in ticket prices, also features designs and some multimedia displays featuring Valadier’s work in other key Rome locations.
