Saturday 18th May 2019, Civic Museums all across Italy
This Saturday will see an enormous range of museums open (or, to be accurate, re-open) for late-night visits at a nominal entrance fee of 1 Euro (it’s not possible to reserve in advance for these specially-priced tickets, just pay on the spot).
A few places will stay open all night, but it’s more common for them to remain open until 10, 11 or 12 PM midnight. For example, in Florence, the Uffizi Gallery, the Accademia Gallery (David), and the Bargello will open from 7 PM until 10 PM, with the National Archaeological Museum staying open from 8 PM to 11.00 PM.
In Rome, the bulk of museums taking part will be open from 8 PM to 2 AM –some of the participating museums are:
- The Musei Capitolini
- Museo dell’Ara Pacis
- Mercati di Traiano
- Museo delle Mura
- Museo della Civiltà Romana
- Museo di Roma
- Museo Napoleonico
- Galleria d’Arte Moderna di Roma
- Museo di Roma in Trastevere
In Milan, the Brera Gallery will be open from 6 PM to 10.15 PM, and in many cities across the country there will be similar initiatives – there is no central site or listing for this year’s edition of this annual event.
