‘Verocchio, the Master of Leonardo‘
Florence, Palazzo Strozzi & Bargello, 8th March – 14th July 2019
Andrea del Verrocchio (born Florence 1435, died Venice 1488) was a giant of the Renaissance, an important artist and sculptor who was also a teacher to Leonardo da Vinci for a while. The exhibition brings together for the first time an imposing collection of Verocchio’s masterpieces, alongside contemporary works by greats such as Perugino and Ghirlandaio and (tying in with the celebrations to mark his 500th anniversary), Leonardo himself.
The exhibition is to be run in conjunction with the Bargello Museum which will be showing other works by Verocchio during the same period.
