Not the most fascinating of subjects, perhaps, air-conditioning, but freshly-installed equipment (jointly funded by Eataly) now means that a much better air-flow (10,000 cubic metres of fresh air a day, as opposed to 3500) allows more visitors, with capacity growing by 30% over coming years.
The refectory of the Church of Santa Maria dell Grazie is, of course, home to the Cenacolo – Last Supper – and it is estimated that this better air flow will protect the very-delicate fresco for the next 5 centuries!
