Florence, August 2018, Vasari Corridor update
Well, it’s not good news. The earliest opening date for the Corridoio Vasariano – Vasari Corridor – is 2 years from now, in 2020. Following enquiries from Florence’s authorities, the Ministry of Culture responded with the following points, summarised:
- The project is still at planning stage, designs hopefully finished by Autumn 2018.
- As soon as designs/plans/specification ready, the tendering process will begin to decide who wins the contract of works.
- Once contract is awarded, it’s estimated that at least 18 months will be required for work to be finished.
- Bureaucracy permitting, the earliest predicted opening is summer 2020.
