Next year (2019) sees the 500th anniversary of the death of Leonardo Da Vinci and Milan, the city where he spent arguably his most creative and dynamic years, is planning various celebrations.
The events are some way off but have just been previewed at Milan’s Castell Sforzesco, the heart of the events planned across the city. The fortress kicks things off on the 2nd of May 2019 with an exhibition – in the specially reopened ‘Sala delle Asse‘ – focused on the ‘Monochrome’ work, recently restored.
Also in the Castello are two other exhibitions, firstly the multimedia ‘Milan of Leonardo’ in the ‘Sala delle Armi‘, an exhibition recreating the city of his times, and secondly ‘Leonardo e la Sala delle Asse tra natura, arte e scienza‘, an exhibition of assorted designs by the maestro and his followers that highlights the artistic relationship with Tuscany.
