Exhibition: ‘Leonardo da Vinci: prime idee per l’Ultima Cena’
Milan, 11th October 2018 to 13th January 2019
Chiesa di Santa Maria dell Grazie
An early event in what’s going to be a busy Da Vinci-themed year in Milan, as 2019 marks the 500th anniversary of Leonardo’s death. An extra reason for viewing the Cenacolo is this exhibition – Leonardo da Vinci’s Early Ideas for the Last Supper – featuring 10 designs loaned from the British Royal Family’s ‘Royal Collection’.
Ten designs explore the creative route travelled on the way to this masterpiece, and, as the pieces are to be on show in the same refectory as the fresco itself, viewing times will be extended to allow for an appreciation of the exhibition. There will be no increase in prices, and it’s hoped that there will be extended opening hours to match the extended viewing times.
