Bernini Exhibition
Borghese Gallery, Rome
1st November 2017 – 4th February 2018
On the occasion of the 20th anniversary of the reopening of the Borghese Gallery, it is fitting that the exhibition to mark the event is dedicated to Bernini – it’s almost 20 years since the key exhibition ‘Bernini Scultore’ – Bernini, Sculptor.
The exhibition spans the entire length of Bernini’s long career and as such ‘completes’ the earlier showing, dedicated as it was to the younger genius of this great artist. A particular emphasis is the the strict rapport between painting and sculpture in the first decades of the 16th century abd the language of the Baroque.
Individual sections have been curated by noted figures, be they Bernini experts or experts focused on a particular stage or aspect of his work.
