Exhibition – ‘L’Ultima Gloria Di Venezia’ – The Last Glory of Venice
Starting in a few days time at the Gallerie dell’Accademia in Venice is an exhibition entitled ‘Canova, Hayez e Cicognara, l’ultima gloria di Venezia’ in cluding works by the aforementioned artists as well as others such as Paola Marini, Fernando Mazzocca and Roberto De Feo.
It’s a large exhibition, featuring more than 100 pieces divided into 9 themes, and is notable for the return to Venice, after 200 years, a series of artefacts sent to Vienna for the fourth marriage of Emperor Francesco the First, known collectively as the ‘Tribute from the Venetian Provinces’.
The exhibition in part celebrates the bi-centenary of the opening of the museum, a celebration of a truly special period in Venice’s history, a time that saw the return from Paris of the most noted symbols of the city, the four horses of San Marco. The exhibition features paintings, sculpture, decoration, marble pieces and ornate furniture.
