Florence, Uffizi Gallery until January 7th 2018
‘Il rinascimento giapponese: la natura nei dipinti su paravento dal XV al XVII secolo’
A just opened exhibition that crudely translates to ‘The Japanese Renaissance: nature in painted screens of 15th to 17 centuries’ is running until the 7th of January 2018. The exhibition marks the end of the celebrations – more than 350 events – that have been marking the 150th anniversary of trade and cultural relations between the two nations.
This is the first event of its kind in Europe and features 39 extremely fine pieces, a mix of folding and sliding decorated screens, which will be shown 13 at a time for reasons of preservation. The works are very delicate and have been kept in total darkness during transportation and storage.
As is standard for Italian galleries, special exhibitions mean a slight increase in ticket pricing – the price you pay will include entrance to these exhibitions.
