It’s often the case that the Colosseum in Rome is closed on May the 1st – it’s a National Holiday in Italy and there are often events taking place that means the Colosseum closes to regular visitors. However, for 2013 it has just been announced that the Colosseum will be open to visitors until 13.45 on May 1st.
You’ll need to have picked up your tickets by 12.30 as that’s when the ticket office closes, and please note that the Roman Forum and Palatine Hill areas will NOT be open to visitors for this date.
