‘Il segreto dei segreti. I tarocchi Sola Busca e la cultura ermetico-alchemica tra Marche e Veneto alla fine del Quattrocento.’
Milan, Brera Gallery
November 13th 2012 – February 17th 2013
Pride of place in this exhibition goes to the oldest complete tarot (tarocchi) deck in Italy, if not the world, the name pertaining to two previous owners, Marquis Busca and Count Sola. The origins are in the late 15th century in Venice, when tarot cards were used in ‘intellectual games’, the occult associations not coming until hundreds of years later, in France.
Other cards are on show, as well as extra works by the presumed creator of the Sola Busca deck, Nicola di maestro Antonio.
