‘Vanitas. Lotto, Caravaggio, Guercino nella Collezione Doria Pamphilj’
Rome, Palazzo Doria Pamphilj
21st May – 25th September 2011
To quote from the official site:
The collection of paintings, busts, and antique clocks made by great artists exhibited here speak to the various aspects of one single certainty: the fleeting nature of earthly things. Caravaggio, Lorenzo Lotto, Jusepe de Ribera, Mattia Preti, Domenico Fetti and Guercino seem to indicate with their masterpieces that, here on earth, vanitas always triumphs over any human vanity. A very modern reflection that various members of the princely lineage of the Doria Pamphilj have made their own.
