‘Ritratti. Le tante facce del potere’
Rome, Musei Capitolini, 10th March – 25th September 2011
To quote from the official site, this exhibition:
… offers visitors the chance to understand the origins and techniques of Roman portraits, ranging from the Republican age to late antiquity. The exhibition spans from the first portraits in terracotta and bronze to the marble and bronze production in the Imperial Age.
On show are over 150 pieces collected from museums across Europe, themed into sections such as ‘Princes and Private Individuals as Gods’, ‘From Mask to Portrait’ and, quaintly, ‘Female Hairstyles’.
