Arcimboldo, Artista Milanese – Milan, Palazzo Reale

Arcimboldo comes home. Fresh from the Washington National Gallery (where the show was entitled ‘Arcimboldo, 1526-1593: Nature and Fantasy’), this major exhibition is held in Arcimboldo’s home town, Milan, the city he retired to after serving as Court portraitist to Emperor Rudolf II in Prague.
The show features numerous examples of his fanastic creations, and also attempts to place him in his times, his influence and influences, such as drawings by Leonardo da Vinci and Albrecht Dürer.
