A clumsy translation for the title of this exhibition would be ‘Caravaggio – his real life in Rome’ … the exhibition, 400 years on from his death, attempts to recreate, from documents only now seeing the light again thanks to recent painstaking research, the places and experiences of Caravaggio during his stay in Rome.
Hailed as a true work of detective investigation, the exhibition, amongst many other things, seems to show that Caravaggio headed to Rome at the age of 25, not 20 as previously assumed. There is an information page here, for now in Italian only, but the exhibition ‘promoters’ usually get around to translating these things in time.
