Lorenzo Lotto exhibition, 2nd March – 12th June 2011
Rome, Scuderie del Quirinale, 16 Via XXIV Maggio
Another advance notice of an upcoming exhibition. Lorenzo Lotto, placed in the Venetian school, was greatly influenced by Renaissance masters such as Bellini, but he also looked to the north, with influences of Dutch and German style clearly visible. Lorenzo Lotto was invited to decorate various papal residences, having come to the attention of Bramante, the papal architect, but he did not fare well in Rome, staying for little time and being superseded by Raphael, whome he had worked with at the Vatican.
