This exhibition – “Viaggio nell’Antica Cartografia d’Europa – dalle radici cristiane all’Europa unita” – ‘A journey through European Cartography, from the roots of Christianity to a united Europe’ – presents a collection of ancient maps from the sixteenth century through to the nineteenth, recording the spread of Christianity across Europe.
The bulk of the exhibition is a selection taken from the collection of Gianni Brandozzi of Ascoli Piceno (in Le Marche), with some very rare pieces indeed. On top of this, the exhibition is enriched by works from the ‘Atlas Marianus’ by H. Scherer, a rare and relatively unknown opus, currently being researched by the Vatican.
