Florence, Uffizi Gallery, Sala delle Reali Poste
17th December 2010 – 30th January 2011
A new exhibition showing works ‘mai visti’ (unseen) from the Uffizi Gallery’s vaults, focusing entirely on self portraits by female artists – ones with ‘capricious and noted’ talents and ingenuity, no less.
The exhibition aims to mix old and new, well known and less well known; the press release talks of artists that deserve to be better known, in need of a public ‘baptising’ as is apparently written on the back of one canvas.
The Uffizi also invited modern figures to contribute, and many of the offerings (paintings, photographs, videos) can be previewed on the following pages – mondomostre. The presentation is in Italian only, but if you scroll down you can see the gallery.
The exhibition is included in the standard entry ticket.
