Milan, December 8th 2011 – on the occasion of the festival of the Immaculate Conception, Milan Cathedral became the first in the world to have its stained glass windows illuminated from the inside. The special opening event, part of the annual art project Light Exhibition Design (LED), saw (in the noted absence of rain) large crowds show up to admire the spectacle; the lights will remain on until after Christmas, from whereon in they will be turned on at weekends and for religious holidays.
