The Museum of the Cathedral in Florence is about to see the start of a six year restoration and enlargement project that will see the museum double in size and therefore allow many more treasures to come out from under wraps.
To quote from the Italian News Agency piece:
Florence’s Museum of the Works of the Duomo, home to one of the world’s most important collections of Medieval and Renaissance sculptures, is set to undergo a six-year renovation project which will double its capacity and allow all of its works to go on show. “This is a historic moment for the museum, a significant step in its seven centuries of life,” said the president of the Duomo complex, Anna Mitrano, at a news conference unveiling the 25-million-euro scheme.
The museum is located right by the Duomo, a section of which can be seen to the left of the photograph above. This is the link for the official museum site.
